“THE ULTIMATE DINNER TABLE”:
The Ultimate Dinner Table began as an experiment in creating something surreal using dining chairs designed by Maz, a designer friend of Ceren based in Mexico City.
Ceren wanted to construct a dining scene for 50 people scaling a familiar setting into something unfamiliar and slightly unpopular at the time. The scene is placed within dense greenery, almost like a backyard swallowed by a jungle where sharp and architectural furniture is set against an organic environment. This contrast allowed her to highlight the form of the chair through equally sharp architecture embedded in nature.
Presenting the work on a large scale three dimensional screen intensifies this tension. The scale turns the scene into an environment the viewer enters rather than observes while also challenging the work to remain coherent and emotionally charged from multiple perspectives.

“The Ultimate Dinner Table” by spatial designer Ceren Arslan in collaboration with animation designer Nate Mohler.
Unfolding across “3788 Light of Asia,” a monumental 3,788 m² LED screen in Chongqing, the scene stages a surreal garden feast poised between architecture and jungle.
A lengthy table stretches through as the point of view glides above it. The viewers are invited to step inside a dinner that is perpetually forming where scale, motion, and ritual collide.
